cb650 first long run
« on: August 31, 2008, 05:41:56 PM »
So i decided i was gonna go for it today and ride the kent coast i set off at 1 and was back at 9 and covered 300 miles i took a small tool kit just incase but didnt need it.
im impressed with the way she rides and the power to go with that, had a few minor problems as follows

ive noticed the gearbox whine got louder as my trip progressed is this normal for these bikes? also after a long ride non stop id pull over for a smoke and wen i crank her over to set off again the starter moter turns verry slow ive noticed this happens when the engine is hot but not from cold start is this linked with the gearbox whine in any way?

Thanks for your replies

You may be having issues with the starter motor brushes.  They can be replaced.   Also, clean all the wiring connections associated with the starter motor.  My long gone 650 used to have issues with the starter turning over the engine when hot. . .

OK thanks for the replies I'm certain its not an elec problem as Ive been over the whole system and replaced any corroded connectors (nearly all) Ive tested the battery only 80amps maybe that's the problem will try a new one

Thanks again
