275,000(us) bike!
« on: September 12, 2008, 06:44:59 AM »
Saw this in my maximum magazine for this month, the company is ecosse moto works, the bike is their titanium series with a supercharged 2,100cc v twin motor.  The entire frame is titanium and they said it took two welders 30 days to weld the frame.

OH yeah turn up the volume so you can hear the fancy annoucer guy :P

I can't believe we have the option of spending $275k with one click of a button. I'm almost tempted to do it, even though I'm not into the bike or the watch, just to see what my wife would say. Well, I guess I know what she'd say if I spent that, just like the home plate umpire after 3 strikes, but not as nice!

It's a nice looking bike, to be sure... doesn't look like it's worth over a quarter million dollars... but it looks nice.

Yeah Dennis, I was thinking everybody's making a big deal about the bike costing $275,000 but the watch has to be worth something::)

Rediculous but the bike itself is well done.

Think of how many Hondas diffrent motorcycles you could buy with that money and how much use and fun you could get out of them.

And a ten dollar watch tells the time just as well :D

Yeah as expensive as it all is and they had to use a crappy leather band for the watch, I was thinkin man they couldn't do a titanium band too. I wonder how much the frame alone is......

That watch is a BRM... it's worth about $20,000... seriously. It has a titanium case to go with the ti-framed bike.

I don't think the price is that out of line for a handmade bike that is limited edition 1 out of only 10.

And to the "wannabe Ducati" comment... show me an all handbuilt, all ti-frame, 2100cc supercharged Ducati, with all the carbon fibre, tank, fenders etc... I guarantee that it is one hell of a ride.

I work for an advertising agency and we spend about half our time marketing corporate business jets that run $8,000,000 to $22,000,000... each. The guys (and believe me, more individuals own these things then you would think) that buy those kinds of jets will by a bike like that in a heartbeat. They pay for exclusivity and having on of the TEN bikes in existence is a great bragging rights around the "club."

While I agree that it is more then a bit obscene for most of us to even contemplate a purchase like that, I think that it is being targeted at VERY specific demographic, and to that demo, its a nice "mantelpiece" to show off to their buddies.

All ten of those bikes will be sold before they are built, I guarantee it... and yes, I wouldn't be surprised if Leno gets one. For him to buy one would be like one of us "normal" people buying a cheeseburger.

I have always loved the design of Ecosse bikes... if I had the flow, I'd buy it.

Hey!  The watch is worth something.  ;D  I believe they'll all be sold before they're built.  I was thinking about it yesterday and thought, that's a cool way to make sell 2.75 million.  I wonder what he's going to net out of the deal.

Bender,

I work for the advertising agency of record for Hawker Beechcraft. We are super slammed right now preparing collateral for them for the National Business Aviation Association national convention. Their flagship is a super-midsized, the Hawker 4000. It runs about 22 million and was just awarded best in class by the Robb Report, the same pub that is pushing this Ecosse.

Just give me the money and soon enough all three will be delivered.
