I will have pistons next week. Sleeves and gaskets are already here. I will post pics as soon as they arrive.

I will be at the Indy Dragbike race next weekend. If you are there say hi.

We're here and waiting, just trying to be patient. I'll be on the road from 7/29 to 8/8 so if you post between those dates I'll have to pay you when I get back. Drop in on Sturgis and I can have a place for you to stay.

Why is that a good thing? Good things come to those that are patient.  :D

Where did you find NOS 970 pistons? How much do they weigh? Any problem fitting them with new rings and 3 piece oil rings? What gaskets are you using? Did you find new wrist pins too? Come on Frank, give up yer secrets.

We're also supporting our and Jay's mission here - to further the latest advancement of the SOHC4. Not too many of the old breed around that can/will do this. Glad to do my part.  ;)

Here is the deal, I wanted 970cc, Particularily so I could overbore to 1000cc, when it gets worn.

So I found a set of forged, new in the box 970cc on here with pins & 3pcs rings.

I already had sleeves, but they are 25 thou smaller than my worn 970cc block, so anyway I look at it, I have to prep another block. I have the copper skeltonized gasket from the worn 970cc.. (now I will have 2 blocks that can go to 1000cc if things gpo wtong)

Also shipping on both of those seperate shipments (sleeves & pistons from 2X the distance)came out less than I have paid on smaller items on here.

I actually advised people on here to support the efforts to start making these parts available, but in the end, I got charged more for shipping than everyone else.. go figure..

I am out of a job, but I did get my pistons, couldnt do it the other way..

Do you have any timetable on a build?

My stuff is getting closer. Still not sure what that means except I'm not in a hurry. Only been a couple years collecting parts and finding the people  ::) Oh yeah a couple years to pay too  ;) Keeps me from having to work a suck ass real job rather than on an as needed basis like I have for the past 3 years.

Do you need Derek to bring anything (legal  ;)) across from Sturgis? If you still have my number just give us a call. He's on the road and I head out Wed 7am.

No timetable, could throw an 836 together, have to see. Wont rush the bigger motor.

Tough for jobs out there. Dont neeed Seaweb to bring anything,

Probably be in Utah while you are at Sturgis.

Try to get to the drags at Glencoe, should be as many fuelers as you got fingers, or more ;D

Hi Jay, mate i was wondering, if i was to order some 970 pistons would i still be able to have the 1000 width sleeves with thicker walls to suit the 970 pistons, the reason i ask is so that i have room for a re bore if i need it?

Thanks...Mick

We have two 970s. You want one?

Glad to do it. The first bike APE ever owned and raced was a 1055cc Honda sohc, so I have always had a soft spot for them.

When we did the 1000s, we did two 970 kits to see how they would sell. Same as the 1000, pistons pins, rings, sleeves, gaskets, etc. Same price.

If i had known earlier about the 970's i would have preferred them but now i am going to use one of Mike Reick's billet blocks i need the 1000cc pistons. Would it be possible to get the 970 kit with sleeves and just a set of 1000cc pistons and pins and clips without sleeve's?
