Could the tubes be slid up a bit to expose enough of the tube for the clip-ons to mount there?

Maybe not enough for a good clamp. Takes at least a full inch maybe more.

How about 2" over tubes slid through the trees and the clip-ons on top?

I almost mentioned that but resisted as its getting pretty expensive. That is the best suggestion however to retain the stock fork ears, and suspension performance.

I made my clip-on's.

Overall.. I love 'em to death.  I have ran them positioned like "drag" bars, and that was cool, but way harsh on the back after 150+ miles.  Ultimately, I like them at more of a "crotchrocket" angle (backsweep) for comfort, but in "drag" position for "short/twist/going way too fast in turns" rides ;)

I slid the forks up in the tree's only temporarily because I didn't take the time to make new fork ears.  I personally like how the bike handles, and the fork itself is even #$%*.  Needs rebuilt, for sure.  Oh, and my eye-eye on my rear shocks measures 14.25".  Very quick steering.

OH, and to the person wanting "fat" grips, google "Oury grips" and get yourself a set.  They're cheap, super cumfy, and THICK!  Love them to death.

Very nice. looks like you got them clamped on to about an inch of tube?

I've used the OURYs on my Hawk for years.

1.25" worth of clamp.  Plenty for my needs.

That's what I was talkin' 'bout.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I'm going with Laverda Jota bars. Adjustable clubmans!
They can be run up or down, just set your angles.
Quality is only so-so on these... They're made by Raask.  :-X
But I hope to get some comfort out of these.

Details on how they're made adjustable perhaps?  Close-up pics would be prime ;)

Ah.  Thanks for the pics. Seems like a good idea, actually.  Construction looks a bit shoddy tho if you ask me... Those welds EEKK!!

Actually the welds look pretty good, they're just not ground down that much. I 'd use some seam sealer in the valleys of the welds to smooth it before painting, that's just cause I wouldn't want to grind down the welds there you need all the reinforcement you can in a tight spot like that.

Well, the welds themselves are overly bulky to me.  a small TIG bead could be argued to have the same strength factor.  But they ARE meant to be a cheaper product...

Either way, I like the idea behind the design.

Maxacceleration, I'm curious where you picked up those Laverda Jota bars?  I've done a small search on the internet but couldn't find anyone selling them.

I'm not maxacceleration but a quick look at the Raask site shows Omar's to be the sole US distributor.  They only show the chrome version though:

If I forgot to state it in my post, I'm probably talking about a 1976 CB550K...

Yup Omar's, chrome or black.
I hope to get some better than standard clubman comfort out of them.  ;D
