I was going to buy a jet style helmet (1970's look) to go with my K0.

Until my son said "come and have a look at these pictures on the internet of people who crashed wearing a jet style helmet"

I read somewhere that 42 percent of major injuries to the head occur in the jaw, nose, cheek area. Mmmmm, I wonder why?

The "why" is because a lot of people think it's cool to wear a cut down pudding basin on their bloody head when they are out on their cruiser. I see it all the time where I live.

I always say to myself that they won't look so purdy with half their face gone and who would want to kiss the resulting mess. I'll leave it up to your imagination as to what I'm talking about.

I just switched from wearing a half helmet to a full face. And that was even before seeing these. My imagination convinced me that I was making the right decision. It feels a little stuffy after using a half, but I'll get used to it.

why the hell are cops still wearing only half a brain bucket? if they still want to talk to speeders and such, why don't they just get the type of helmet that every BMW rider on earth wears?

As a MSF rider coach... I'm required to tell people that a DOT stamp is all that is required... Bikers on a half shell even have a DOT sticker.... I caveat it with if you only want to land on top of your head every time... cause novelty helmets only protect you 38% of the time... 62% of the time your going to require more coverage to prevent serious damage to your FACE... not that it's an issue or anything... it's not "My" face

That gave me chills. It's face is done. Probably for good. Probably one of those riders you see in shorts and flip flops with their helmet on the helmet hook under the seat, driving 90 in a 30.... just a thought.

i've looked at that scan a few times now, and as much as i HATE a full face helmet i guess i really should get one. only problem is i have a 27 1/2" diameter melon. anyone have a pumpkin head sized helmet laying around they dont need?
