At first I thought the badge looked similar to an Opal...
Bike looks remotely like a Russian copy of a Marusho.
Wish that girl wasn't there- the frame looks interesting.
Any esoterica people here?

How about a Lilac? Not sure if that is the correct spelling but there was some of these bikes around in the late 60's. Similiar to a BMW but made in the far east. I don't think they were very popular. A guy down the block was given one from his dad and he promptly went down to the Norton dealer and traded it on a P11.

It does resemble a Lilac (they had both "V" and flat twins), but the tank insignia doesn't seem right.

As far as I know, marusho was a 500cc boxer, and Lilac was a small V-twin like a Guzzi.
I'm starting to wonder if that's a Russian bike that just happens to have a Japanese girl in the picture.

Wish I could have CSI put that badge in their computer the way they do with fingerprints.

I think the small German sideways V you spoke of is a Hoffman.. search them & see if the boxer is similar.

I went to at least 3 museums (that I went to visit) in Germany one was bike only the NSU museum, they got a book of their collection in German but I can read most of it.. excellent drawings and pics in there. the book by a think Bacon with the sandcast 750 on the cover shows to Hoffman I think, many bikes in that book are from NSU museum so I have seen a lot of them in the steel & chrome..

My wife is from a neighboring town to where the HOREX was built in Germany.. her mother worked in the factory after it closed, think Diamler bought it.

Anyway, in the village where she lived i got introduced to a collecter of Horex.. lots of NOS goodies, he also had a 24 Indian scout, and took me to another place showed me a Afrika Korps Beemer, (got to sit on it running

), a Zundapp twin, and a Schwimwagen..!!

Also got to chat with an old fellow that was a foreman in the machine shop for Horex, told me of people coming from all over Europe to pick up their rides.. I think they were around 85 per day..

Anyway the first fellow had a big Horex single, sorta Goldstarish, with the biggest freaking pipe you ever saw.. at least 2 1/4 in od or more.. cool bike..

could be a Dnepr, DKW, Ural, Izh, Leitner etc.....all the russian bikes had access to the captured german WWI motorcycle tooling and all devloped their own boxer models when the BMW copies were not enough.

it was. Voskhod were DKW knockoffs that often get copied. I couldn't remember the name so I just wrote DKW.
