Stuck Cylinder head stud

Guys, all but one Cylinder head syuds are out, just one left, have tried gallons of WD40, gentle heat with blow torch, tap with hammer etc.

Any other ideas?

Please?

What are you using for a stud remover?

I had a similar problem with a 550 that heat wouldn't remove. Then I heated it with a cam style remover and it popped right out.

Just bend it at right-angles and wind it out mate, I presume that you don't intend to re-use it? Cheers, Terry. ;D

+1 to PB Blaster.  WD-40 is not a penetrating oil or lubricant, it is an anti-moisture protectant.

That said, I'd try Terry's suggestion.

Well I was going to, will it be stretched or ruined? Should you not re use studs?

It will be ruined. You are going to be replacing them with heavy duty pieces anyway...right?

i had  the same problem, i got all of them out by bending them over and spinning them out except for the fwd one on the left side where all the water collects when its on the kick stand (severely corroded), that one broke off :'( picking it up from the machine shop on monday
                                                                                      anyways those stud removers look like the ticket.
Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

Correct mate, they will be stretched and ruined, but like Mike said, you'd be well advised to use H/D studs, even if you're keeping the engine stock.

Be very careful with stud removers, if they gouge your OEM studs, there's a likelehood that they'll snap when you retension them. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Cheers Terry, last stud is out. Bent beyond use.

Now then, HD studs, any suppliers for the UK?

Now I have the kick start retaining pin to worry about, wil tackle that tomorrow.

G'Day Skunky, well either Big Jay at APE or Jeff at Z1 Enterprises will sell you some H/D studs, (Big Jay manufactures them, and they're both members here) and if you squeeze and twist that roll pin with a set of vise grips you'll get it out no worries. Cheers, Terry. ;D
