Dose anyone know this area ? I was looking on Google earth and this town has what seems to be, a lot of oval tracks.
Anyone know what they are? they are all very close to one another and varey in size.
Just wondering.

Yes, those are horse tracks, but since you are interested in drag racing, you should know that Ocala is the home town of Big Daddy Don Garlits and he has a pretty cool museum there.

Definitely horse country, but
it is possible early on a bright sunday morning
to get onto a more remote track-
(do your Bart Markel impersonation) and get the hell out!--been there-it's a rush !

Any of you guys live near Ocala? I live in Hernando FL. and I feel like the only guy on a cafe out here. I'm gettin tired of being a one man bike club.

I grew up outside of Ocala and still have family down that way, although, they are dying off at an alarming rate it seams. And yes, Horses and more horses down in that area. How did a farm boy from Florida get to live in Alaska? It's a long, long, long story. Some days I wish I was back down there, just so I could ride more often, then Alaska shows me something new and I fall in love with her all over again.

Hi okie, I met Don in the mid 60s when the a US touring team came to the UK to show us what drag racing was, been hooked ever since.

When I was returning from Peidmont to Virginia with Mark (dusterdude) last year, we saw a big rig with Don Garlits Racing on it, must still be going.

I live in South Tampa and we do a good bit of riding. I don't have a cafe but I do have a very stock 75 550F.
Although lately I've been on this Goldwing kick.
Lets get together and ride sometime.
May 3rd we are doing a ride with the VJMC in Brooksville thats about half way btween us, come join us, lots of cool bikes and cool roads.

I'm not actually a member of the VJMC but I do a couple of joint rides with them every year. They are a great bunch with some awesome older bikes.
Maybe of interest to you, I ride with a group called COMA (Classic owner Motorcycle Association) and they ride a lot of older British iron, but if your bike is at least 30 years old your OK regardless of what it is, so My 75 550f is acceptable. Here is some pictures from our picnic last year. Mine is the 75 550, Ed's is the 75 750.
