spark plug tool
« on: March 17, 2009, 01:09:57 PM »
Where are folks getting their spark plug wrenches?  I need one for my CB500 and would prefer an OEM style, but can't find one.  I can't believe the prices they go for on ebay, pretty much nothing under $20 if you include the usually outrageous shipping (11.99 to ship a F^&^ing 4oz tool?!)
Anyway, motion pro seems to make one that would work for about $22.  I am just wondering if there are any options I haven't considered.  It's an 18mm.
Thanks

I got lucky and they came with my bikes. I did get one for my toolbox, and I just ordered it from the Honda shop...it was around ten bucks....

The original honda tool is ugly and chaep looking, but nothing works as well. It is amazing for the middle two plugs. If u can get one for $10.00 go for it.

I got a sparkplug tool from cyclerecycle for 5 dollars a couple of years ago for my CB500.  I just checked their site and they have a tool for $4.95.  http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/

Got mine at the local motorcycle parts shop.  $6 and change and walked out the door with it.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I carry an 18mm spark plug socket, 3/8 ratchet 2 extenders and a swivel in my tank bag. The few times I have had to get at plugs 2 or 3 on the side of the road I was glad I had them instead of the stock style.

They're still available from Honda under part number 89216-323-000 (for a first-year CB500).  Around $10.00.

My missing plug wrench was found at a local second-hand store, at the bottom of one of those "cheap oddball wrenches - 50¢ each" bins.

not only $$$ cheaper than the dealer.....

it has that correct vintage patina that can't be bought at any price.
