While I'm in there I might as well replace the......
« on: March 13, 2009, 09:56:46 AM »
I'm getting ready for a rebuild - top & bottom -  my 750 K3  w/ 33,500mi
I'm not doing a hot rod. I want a nice, tight daily driver.

So far I've got:

Pistons, rings, pins, clips (.50 over). My #2 is in bad shape.
A rebuilt head w/ new valves, seals, & springs
A good used tranny (mine likes to pop out of 4th while getting onto the freeway  >:( )
I'm shopping for gaskets & seals - likely will go with CycleX

While I'm in there I'm guessing doing the chains/guides/rollers/tensioners would be a good idea.

What else should I replace?

My K3 has about 70K and now has new pistons and rings (.25).  Yes, I did the valve seats and checked everything on the top end. I put the original cam-chain back in because it was better than the DID replacement unit. It occasionally pops out of gear but I live with it. I should have it fired up in a month after touching up a few paint nicks on the frame.

Undercut the tranny isn't too expensive, and replace the shift forks.
Degree the cam!
