If I use a bristle brush and degreaser... then use high pressure water to rinse... followed by fogging oil... will my engine parts flash rust so quickly that it won't matter?

i.e.  cylinder block

please tell us your abnormal way and if it worked.

For what vehicle?
Aluminum doesn't oxidize very quickly.

Assuming you mean an iron car engine, you pretty much need to paint ASAP.  However, the WD in WD-40 stands for "water dispersant".  (But then you'll need to get rid of that, too...)

block is off the engine... already done now and no flash rust.

used gunk degreaser, scrubbed w/ a brush, rinsed w/ water then immediately blew it off with compressed air and towel dried the non aluminum parts just to make sure, and sprayed w/ fogging oil.

looks good enuf for the race bike... i might be a little more particular if it was a show stopper... but, its just gonna be a race winner.

i used to work in a steel supply yard... watched stuff rust right before my eyes it seemed like sometimes... that was going thru my head.

The only part you would have to worry about flash rusting after getting wet are the cylinders, since they're steel.  I always just dry them out by pulling a towel through them a couple of times and then smear them with motor oil.  The rest of the aluminum parts either get a quick air hose treatment or just set out in the sun to dry.

Yes, I'm aware of that. But the bits of ferrous materials on it are easy enough to dry and protect quickly.

Correct, but apparently the rest of your bikes are made of sugar.

Only rust you need to be concerned with is flash BACK rust
