I came through the lower part of that loop last summer while riding a bike from Houston to Alabama (yes, I know it wasn't the shortest way to go

) and it was the best part of the trip. A friend paid for me to fly down and ride the bike back for him as he had recently inherited it. The front brake on that bike (Yamaha 1500) was having a problem and would not work unless you squeezed the lever hard, after which it tended to lock the front tire. After a few times experiencing that going into curves, I dropped down a gear and slowed down some. I found that engine braking into the turns and gassing out of them was more fun than using the brakes anyway. And I enjoyed the scenery more going a little slower.
