CB550 Valve Adjustment? what's the trick??

okay. whats the trick. i bent the heck out of a cheap set of guages i bought but i still cant quite get it in there. or i dont know if it's in there or not because i cant see it. never had this much trouble on cars... is it just a bike thing?
help me out.

Just went through the fun of doing the adjustment on by CB550 too. Yup that's pretty much it. I bent the crap out of the feeler gauges breaking into occasional turrets syndrome feeling around to see if they slide in. There is of course a special tool for this that makes it easier. I ended up bending the feeler gauge about 1/2in from the tip much like the specialty tools which made it easier. I might have to invest into the proper ones to keep my sanity. practice on a ninja 250, then you'll feel like you're in a barcalounger clicking a remote when you do your 550...  :|
