future bobber i hope!
« on: June 01, 2009, 11:13:22 PM »
well ihave been hard at work and making some progress on the bike i bought as a parts bike then decided to convert to a bobber so i hope. Here is where it stands right now just waiting to get my wheels back on they got painted black wanted to powdercoat them but spokes were so rusty i thought i would break one or a few of them so opted sand and to paint them. Can't justify spending a ton of money on a bike that cost me $300 but don't want to comprimise the final product so i have to be selective where the money goes. i want a good solo seat for it now any suggestions from anyone?                  what kind of bars do you guys think look better on a bobber drag bars or ape hangers?

looking sweet so far.....   I would say, small ape hangers......also,i would try and lift that tank up on the front for a better "line" following the frame...but  that's my 2 cents.......

now get busy,winter is getting closer... ;D ;D ;D
Marti, I want you to know, I like you an awful lot, but guys have said far less and left wearing their drinks on their shirts.

ive always been partial to ape's don't know why but always have been or you could go with a nice z bar style handlebar.  but yea raising the front of the tank will make the lines much smoother.
Keep it shinny side up.

I'll throw in my vote for drag bars.  Just my 2¢.

How much you figure I should raise tank as I don't want to expose the coils underneath and as far as ape hangers will I have to get new cables or is there enough slack in the factory ones to accomodate.

on mine I left the rear bolt in loosely and blocked it up in the tunnel, one step at the time and then I stood back and looked at it,did that till i was happy with the looks, measured where the front mount rubbers should go and made it all work...

if i get ape hangers where can i get longer cables? and i tried lifting the tank with blocks and realized that the triples will hit the edge of the tank so i would have to slide tank back any concerns there? i will end up with some open space under the tunnel that will be visible from the front .
