cant get carb apart! '78 cb125s
« on: June 05, 2009, 09:01:57 PM »
ok, so i just picked up a 1978 cb125s that has been sitting in a shed since 1987.  it's awesome! but i can't twist the throttle and i'm guessing this is carb related?????
carb needing to be rebuilt anyhow since it is nasty, i have started to take it apart.  but the throttle cable won't come loose?
now, i know basically nothing, but everything i read says, just unscrew the throttle cable and remove it.  this is not happening.
i know 48 of you dudes know what i'm going through and know the answer... let's have it gents.

You did remove carb top first?
All you do is compress spring a bit to allow nipple to be removed from slide then unscrew cable

If it's like the '80, the top unscrews and the slide and needle come off in one and for the most part, that piece doesn't have to come apart any more than that.  Then disconnect the fuel line and the carb is ready to come off the bike.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

That must be one nasty carb. I've never needed to torch one apart.
