No top end power
« on: June 26, 2009, 08:12:09 AM »
im a proud owner of a 76 750k but i am having troubles with it. i had it running perfect about 3 weeks ago until my rear tire went. its been sitting for a little over 3 weeks and i replaced the tire to find that its running very very poorly. it has no top end power at all. it seems to run fine at lower RPMs and it seems to be running on all 4.
it got rained on for a couple of days it was sitting and it also tipped on its right side while i was at work (no visuall damage, thank god) my first guess is maybe the condensers got damp? i dont know, im not very good at this. any help?

First off you should verify that it's actually running on all four cylinders.  Touch all the pipes as it's warming up to see if they'r all heating up evenly.  These bikes can run surprisingly well on just two cylinders and many before you have been fooled.

ive dont the obvious (new plugs, gaps, points, etc) all the pipes are hot although i did notice one that wassnt as hot( still extremely hot) after i rode the bike for a couple minutes. my guess is, is that that cylender is the one thats cutting out at higher RPMs. any idea why. if it was the coil, wouldnt the other cylender that runs off that coil do the same thing?
thanks

You say it got tipped over, you might want to check carb floats to make sure everything is moving freely. Worth checking anyhow...
