Portland ride
« on: July 07, 2009, 12:31:54 PM »
O.K., being that riding season is here in the PNW, and being that we have some of the coolest roads anywhere in the country, I think all of us Portlanders will be remiss if we don't hook up for a ride this year.
Doesn't need to be a big trip or anything (heck with the twisties around here you don't have to go far).
I was thinking more along the lines of a run to the Rock Creek Tavern (out Skyline) or something like that for a group photo.
Whadya' say Portlanders?

Well mrblasty sorry you won't be able to make it.
I imagine 24 old Hondas blasting up Skyline.
C'mon Portlanders, with all these members, we have to do SOMETHING!

Maybe I should have posted a different question first; 'Who has a running bike in Portland?'  :D :D :D

hey, what about borkunit and nokrome !?

we both have running bikes and we have been talking about getting a ride together for a couple of weeks now....you beat us to it

i just rode germantown rd from hillsboro to hwy 30 the other day, trying to follow my friend on his aprilla....ya right, he lost me at the first set of curves

anyways, count me in!

I'm new to the forum but I live in Portland and have a running bike.  I'm in for a ride if it happens.

"hey, what about borkunit and nokrome !?"
Ooops, sorry I missed ya's, I got the list from http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=12201.0

So you need to get your names in there :D

You too and welcome wsup55!

German Town is awesome but, for a real thrill, try Rocky Point Rd. bit further west between Skyline and U.S.30.
Holy smokes!

I know, how 'bout I propose a poker run of sorts where we go around to the non-running members homes and take a group pic at each (that ought to provide some impetus for a running bike LOL)
Maybe even a tag team effort to get each running so they can join the run!

I'd really just like to get a group pic representing as much of the PORTLAND CONTINGENT as possible.

That being said if any individuals are up to it, I've got a lot of time on my hands and a full tank.
There is soooo much to see around here it is ridiculous. This weekend it's Painted Hills and John Day fossil beds.

I'll keep the thread bumped for awhile and if we could get a majority response, that would be awesome.
Once we get a reliable count we can plan when.

C'mon everybody, summer'll be over before you know it!

If you want a group photo, pic a time and place and include beer.  Anyone want to host?

I can host in S.W.
Seeing as the mods moved this thread to where no one will see it, I don't hold out too much hope.
It was a fun thought anyway  :-X
If anyone local needs help getting their bike on the road, lemme know.

I'm in, though I'm leaving the country for ten days on Friday. Do it after that and I'll have a running bike... just waiting on a gasket to have the 718 running again. Also, we should meet at our shop in NE. We have a large parking lot we can all park at and get a picture.

Make it an a couple weeks!

SW would be awesome for us, too.  MickeyX and I are going to be out of town until next week... but I'm all over it. :D 'specially on a Saturday cuz I work all day Sundays.

I'm 80% sure I'm in.  My bike may or may not be running.  If not I'm pretty sure I have another bike at my disposal.

Wow, it's the summer the Portland folks are working on their bikes......weird :-\.

oh that and the RC tavern would be an awesome place to meet up. I used to pass the place on my way to school every day.  At least I know where it is! :D

Cool, that's 8 of us, not a bad start.
How about we meet at Paulages for pics on Saturday July 25th at about 11am?, then we could take the ride to Rock Creek Tavern. (that takes care of Kit and Paul, and gives coldright some time)

Then, (maybe more fun?) we could take a ride through the west hills and return to my place at the Frank estate apartments in S.W. for BBQ, pops and a party?  We have a nice pool/hot tub/clubhuouse with a beautiful commons area for frisbee. (we also have amps and guitars so there could be jams?!?) Just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks.
If anyone else has ideas we have 2-1/2 weeks to sort it out.
So, as it stands, party at the tavern, or bash at Mike's place? (haha or both!)
What say you?

I say I'm a noob rider and the idea of riding in PDX city kinda freaks me out, but I could def. meet ou at the RCT.

I propose that me and my 'crew' ride over to Kits and swoop her and her bike up 'gauntlet' style for the ride over to Paul's, surrounded by 750's.
Woe be the bass turds that get in our way!
As you ride, you will develop the 'road warrior' attitude required to stay alive!

Don't worry, I'll have Kit there to play.  ;D I don't have a Honda running as he's been a very gracious donor to Kit's bike since we got him. Maybe next year... but I do have a Sportster, if that's ok to be around all of your lovely Hondas.  ;)

It looks like at this time, we will both be able to make it on the 25th.
1969 CL350 Scrambler... almost done!!! Well, until something else goes wrong. :)
2006 HD 883 Sportster, stock. No use changing it, it's still gonna be a Harley.
