Topic: How long did it take to complete your project?

I know the level of skill, complexity, resources are different amoungst each individual/project. But I'm curious to know how long it took for you to complete your project. The focus of this poll would be restoration & conversions (cafe racer, bobber, rat, etc). I know that we all will constantly/continously work on your pride and joy, but there is a point where you felt confortable that "something" was done.

I started working on my CB350F, which had been Cafe'd by the PO, in the '80's, and it is not done.  I have modified, custom made or have plans for so many parts of it that nothing is 100% done.  It runs, but has no lights nor air intake system other than open carbs.  Before I moved from Perris CA to Las Vegas NV, I was painting the pipes and working on an LED tail/brake light.  It's in storage right now.

I have been rebuilding the carbs on my '77 750F since October.  My "PROJECT" doesn't even begin until after I get the bike running

Every time I think I'm done, I look at the inspiration thread and, damn it, if I don't end up with a new project.

I put 2 years, but I hope its like 1.5 years. I'm 1 year into it already.

But that doesn't count the first year back in 2000 when I got a lot of things started, then had to shelve it for personal reasons. A full frame up restoration including engine, for a guy with a 50 hour week job, family obligations, and budget constraints is probably looking at 3 years and 5 to $10,000.

I don't think it ever ends. I build with the best I can afford or find at the time and continually look for better parts, bits and pieces to improve or make it more correct. Every day is a treasure hunt! It's amazing what comes along sometimes. How many times have I read here "It followed me home honey - honest!"

According to my project thread, I have been working on my 550 with 60mm GPZ pistons since October last and I would say I'm 50% complete. Lulls and bursts, storm and calm but it's coming, bit by bit...
