Brake pad removal
« on: November 18, 2005, 08:59:39 AM »
I have a CB750 K5.  I have my master cylinder and brake hoses taken apart, so I can't use them to push the piston out to remove the brake pad.  I tried using compressed air according to oldmanhonda, but so far that hasn't worked.  There is a bolt that is inset between the top of the pad and the top of the caliper.  Does this bolt have any function for holding the pad in?  Using a screw driver, I can turn the bolt approximately 1/3 of a turn.  Any suggestions besides hooking it back up to pump it out?

Common problem. There is no bolt holding the pads in place. You might find this thread worth reading. I favor the grease gun method.. no access to compressed air.

Great link. Thanks.  I need to improve my searching skills.  It seems that every question I have has already been answered on this board.  I just started working on my CB750 about 3 weeks ago and this is my first experience with mechanical work.  This site is awesome for a guy like me.

Thanks
