That looks like a major headache ..........before the fun starts. :D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Hope the carbs have mounting bracket!! Sucks to think of that engine being a down grade.

Might have just been a case of having the 550 engine (w/o the rest od the bike) and the XR600 (w/o an engine) and decided why not see what he could come up with. Kind of like ME having an RZ350 Yamaha (w/o the engine and related parts) and I DO happen to have an EXTRA CB500 Four engine!  ::) ::) Better watch over me, I'm just liable to make an attempt to use what I've got! :D

you know I was talking to my brother and we kinda thought the same Idea. he has an extra cr500 frame with no motor and I have a extra cb550 motor. he wanted to do it and run some hillclimbs to see how it would do. lol

bill as much as it is sacrilege to stick a cb lump in an Rz frame (which really would be a downgrade) there is a famous TZ race bike ( i think it was a TZ750)  that has a cb550 engine in it. I will see if I can find a pic.

If it really runs it could be a good source for a spare 550 engine, just auction off the XR parts...  Still at 250 with 7 hrs to go...

Actually, SOHC/4 engines were popular in the day as hill climb engines.  They used to make special grind cams called "Big Bangs" that allowed 1&4 and 2&3 to fire TOGETHER.  The cams on the 3.4 side were simply moved 180 degrees.  Had a TON of low-end torque but not much top end speed, which is ideal for hill climb.
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
