There is definitely religious freedom in the US. Of course, no matter who you talk to, each side is always convinced the other side is winning. This post is a good example...

thanks Seaweb.  You just gave me an excuse to DELETE my membership to this forum.  If we wanted to hear Religious Propoganda, we can go to church.  This is supposed to be a place for LIKE Minded individuals to come together peacefully and talk about our bikes.  Not a place to have religious beliefs thrown at us.

So What if the whole world turns muslim.  In the USA, as long as the Constitution holds up, I have the right to practice or not to practice any religion I see fit.

Especially the part about "Like Minded individuals".  Please...   How boring would this place be if we all felt exactly the same way about every subject that comes up? 

I personally invite anybody who truly feels that we should all hold the same beliefs on any subject, just because we all like old Honda bikes, to delete their membership (not just meaninglessly threaten to ) and go find someplace else where everybody thinks exactly like everybody else, and you can all live happily ever after in your precious little bubble protected from the horrendous idea that other people may actually feel differently about things than you do.

True that, religious freedom is king in the states. Many polple change their religion many times in their life so I wouldn't hold too many grains of salt on that one. Propaganda for sure 
I am of Jewish decent,meaning my great grandparents on my fathers side were jewish, my grandma was jewish by blood and christian by faith. My mother is christian faith and when she married my step father when I was a wee lad he had changed form mormon to RLDS which we were.

I think the feeling of religious freedom definitely varies with where you live.  The smaller the town or community, the more rigid the adherence to the 'norms' people have grown up with. Sure their kids might come home from college with weird ideas about Buddhism or Paganism, but they will often either be shortlived ideas, or the kids will move somewhere closer to the big city.

I know I have a lot more freedom her in OR than I ever would in WI.

Keep in mind you live in Portland.  Rural is rural.  Most of Oregon is rural, which isn't to say that rural=intolerance.  I was raised by very nice, very tolerant, very open minded church going hippy rednecks.
