Kerker Exhaust Question
« on: July 27, 2009, 04:14:55 PM »
so I got a kerker header off ebay a couple months ago for my 1974 CB550 and just finally got around to installing. The problem is that the exhaust shims dont fit around the header...so either I got the wrong header or I have to use different exhaust shims, mounting hardware etc. Which one is it?

Wrong header!
My Kerker doesn't use those shims.
The mounting flanges are part of the header.

Just open them up a little and they will work. They don't affect the seal, just push the flare(seal) against the copper washer.  I have never bought a used kerker that came with flanges. Although the are a slightly larger diameter than stock, I'm not sure new kerkers had them either. Hope this helps!!

Assuming the larger kerker diameter is the problem! Find something near the kerker diameter(preferrably solid) and tap or squeeze them(carefully) over it until they fit that diameter.
