Thanks. I always wondered if measuring temperature with simple sensor rings between the plug hex's and the head could be useful. I guess measuring temperature someway at the top of the plug (where the cap goes) is not, unless it could give you a clue to equalise maybe.
Question is: do we want exact data or just a tool to equalise temperature in the four chambers.
Measuring EGT or headtemp could be integrated in the engineguard I described sometime ago. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=44306.msg463126#msg463126

Does the sensor read the inside of the pipe or outside? I see some variables with wind drafts, ect if the sensors are on the outside.

Not to also be a downer, but I dont see a major gain over a good carb sync.

not for a replacment of a carb sync, a additional tool for max top end power is all.

What benefit would this have over an O2 sensor set-up?

Dunno.

I've used both.

I'm not going to completely give up on the idea. At the very least this thread pointed out some areas that would need to be looked into if I wanted to develop something useful :)

Brandon

Even Einstein discussed things that were impossible, proved wrong, or went nowhere.
Without discussion, progress would stop as a society

Now don't you start with this Einstein fellah, boy. He is an imposter, making people to believe that the faster you go, the younger you return. He is a con man. Maybe you'd better not ask how I found out - *3&#@*%!! - but he is the reason me and my Julie split up.
Curse him, CURSE HIM!

you need to measure the plug temp , as you said between the head and the plug . im not sure what use this would be on a road bike , as soos said it would only be useful to determine the size of the main jet even then you would have to get the bike flat out for a long time before the temp stabilized
for racing two strokes i used a cougar data logger with exhaust gas temp , plug temp , detonation counter and throttle position sensor to determine the needle type and main jet size . a bit over the top for our road bikes i think !!

deltarider dont tell me ......... you went out for a ride one day and came back too young for her !

Well... what can I say... Looking back... It's all so embarassing... But then, if more members want to know my story (and if moderators will allow me) I might tell you (I said I MIGHT!).

In the meanwhile, stay away from this Einstein fellah. He's a lier and a troublemaker! A troublemaker that's what he is.

I want to know the story. The moderators might allow it in the open forum. Maybe. Serious business here, these internets.

Well, since you all insist (sigh), here’s the story. In spite of distance in age (she 23 and me 50) Julie and I had a wonderfull relation. She benefitted much from my experience as an older man and I enjoyed her experience that seemed to have come to her so naturally. But… turning 50, I started to wonder if I would remain attractive for her much longer. Not that I was worried sick, but every now and then, I would face the mirror to look for any signs of aging, that Julie could soon detect. Accidentally by this time, I was reading a book, I had found in a secondhand bookshop. It was called The Unbearable Relativity of Species, if I remember well and was written by someone by the name of Einstein who claimed to be a professor.
