i have a kerker header/megaphone on the k4 and i want to put a supertrapp on i was given last year. the question is, can i weld a stainless supertrapp to a mild steel header? and if so what welding wire do i use? this is with a mig welder and i have a 75/25 mixture in the bottle.

welding 2 metals is possible with a TIG but I would not recommend it.  I would sleeve the pipe and band clamp the muffler.

You can weld it with either SS or mild wire Fuzzy, but I'd suggest you get some pure Argon, SS doesn't like mixes. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

thanks for that info Terry! now all i have to do is cut a small wedge out of the inside part of the curve at the end of the collector to tuck the end of the header in a bit so the supertrapp doesnt stick out like a broken thumb. that said.........does anyone here need a kerker/supertrapp megaphone that came with the cb750 exhaust?

I gas welded several stainless/mild steel joints using mild steel filler a few years ago on my E350's exhaust system.  They've held up just fine.  I wouldn't do this for something chassis/structural but it's exhaust so I just did it and with no apparent problems thus far.

Is that he complete exhaust, or just the muffler?

I cut up some glasspacks and welded them on, but the fiberglass fell out before I got the ends capped.
