Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

what movies HAS he done?

'Speedy', 'The Freshman', 'Welcome Danger', and 'Safety Last' are just a few of his classics. He was a contemporary of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, etc.  A truly great silent film era, slapstick comedian. He lost the thumb & index finger of I think, his right hand during a stunt with a prop bomb and there after wore a prosthesis on that hand and still managed to pull off many stunts that a man with all his fingers would have a hard time doing. 'Safety Last' is definitely worth watching just to see him hanging from the hands of a large clock on the side of a very tall building!

From his biography at IMDB....http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0516001/

"Most traumatically, he suffered the loss of his right thumb and forefinger in an accidental prop bomb explosion on August 14, 1919, just as his career was starting to take off. Lloyd would go to great lengths to hide his disability, spending thousands on flesh-colored prosthetic gloves and hiding his right hand whenever knowingly photographed, even long after his career ended."

BTW, if you happen to watch 'Speedy', there is a cool cameo appearance by the 'Sultan of Swat', Mr. Babe Ruth himself!

Imagine, no computerized special effects. Very few, if any stunt doubles.  Filmed on location, not on a special stage.

I wonder how far a project like "Safety Last" would get today.

'Speedy' is up there as one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.  Thanks for the heads-up!
