Yoshimura Kitted CB 500/550/590
« on: August 05, 2009, 08:00:12 PM »
Was working on Andrew's bike - so he got cracking on cleaning up my race bike, so here it is.

The way it sits is after winning 2 Nationals in 1989 - Roebling Road, Savannah, GA.

TG - the beveled cover is for YOU!

More info to follow!
(will edited pictures tomorrow)

(Long sigh)  Very cool. Businesslike.

I for one can appreciate the rash on the dyno cover.

Bussiness like for sure! I have always said that a proper race bike has that "work truck" look to it. A job to be done and it doesn't have to be pretty. As a fabricator, I believe that what works good is what looks good.

Cool bell, now we can all believe your tall tales...  ;D

Kidding aside, it's good to see confirmation for some of my own findings:

* Full, low clip-ons are way too extreme, I use the same "raised" Tomaselli Clip-ons as shown here. they also give more room for tall folks

*ditto for rear pegs position, match my DIY set. seen too many extreme positions. Are these rasks or what?

* think we are even using the same tacho, is it a suzuki's? what ignition is it running?

* bike needs long velocity stacks, I just could never got mine ot work with the 26VM's, mind dynoing it?

On the other hand, With the rear kicked up, I found i needed triple clamps with less offset, yours is running stock.

Would like to be able to bridge the s'arm, but we are not allowed....

last, with al my respect to Pops, those kinked manifolds still dont make sense to me.

So then, when are you talking her out for a spin?

TG

Never got control of F./end chatter!!

The stock offset triples might have a lot to do with it. less offset puts more weight on the front.

many guys here put on ducati pantah triple clamps, I couldnt find them so went with a set form a cagiva 125.

I am 6'4" so I guess we seat similarly,

only problem with raasks is that they shatter upon impact, did my set from a soft ally bar that can be banged back striaght

Can you tell me who made that ignition side cover?
I made a few of those along time ago (I still have one that I had the HRC machined in it)
and also did a few with the bevel also

chills down my back when I saw that

bill, dont lean too much, it's gonna hurt

I run a very slim gsxr ignition so that cover is almost flat,

ditto for the alternator side. cut the crank stub off and have the flatest cover there is.

TG, I have a steering stem & triple clamp from a late model 750 I planned to use that I thought had less offset than the 500, but are actually 50mm so that ideas been sunk, probably use the original stuff for now.

Out of curiousity what is the Cagiva 125 offset?

I'm flying tomorrow so cant go now down to the garage but from memory it was about 15-18 mm less than stock. just enough to keep trail around 90-95. Stock worked OK with the slightly longer shocks i had a the beginning but when I went real high at the back, trai was down to 75 and bike got nervous

TG,like the offset idea,my plan was to look @ f/end options and rule book,Bwaller,it faired real well,as in only 3 VF500's beat it,my buddy Donnie Rowes,Tuned by Vic Fasola, tuned for Yosh, and many other top notch teams,Russell Moffitt, won quite a bit club racing, and the one in the pic,.Little bike was quick and fast,wt, was 372lbs w/fluids.It was a hoot to ride, would Holeshot most every race!Bill.....wonder what it would do with TG on it?
