Do I Need to TUNE-UP this Bike or Not ?
« on: August 13, 2009, 09:41:31 AM »
I thought that it was running pretty good and it HAS been awhile since I did a FULL & COMPLETE tune-up i.e. tappets, plugs, points, condensers, dwell, timing etc.

Had a chance to put it on a dyno and on first run, only took it up to 8600. On second, took it to 9k still short of red-line...the chicken in me got ahead of the goforit in me, but the bike topped out way before that point anyway. The bike did sound pretty good but seems a little low on HP & torque....and it was a hot & humid evenging with slightly lower than standard pressure.
In the first graph, the light line is power and the dark line is torque. In the second graph, the light line is the torque and the heavy line is the power.

YOU WILL HAVE TO HIT YOUR BROWSER ZOOM TO ABOUT 300 TO 400% TO READ CHART.

So here is the first run at 8600 rpm

This is the second run at 9000 rpm

So what do you think?  Am I way low or does this seem about right and normal?  Should I spend the $ (which is real tight  now) or am I pretty much in the ballpark and good to go?  ALL OPINIONS and EXPERT VIEW Welcome.

They are too small for me to read :(

Which bike (k4 I presume?), and can you make the pictures larger, upload them to photobucket or some such?

That looks like 35 rwhp from the graph? Hard to read.

If that's correct, that's about right for a k4, from what I've been told.

That's what I did....scanned them at 600dpi and uploaded to photobucket.... try hitting your view button in bottom right corner of your browser and go to 150 or 200%.....best that I can do unless I missed something.

Oh, yeah, that worked for me. I'm dumb sometimes. Near 50 rwhp for a k4. I think that's pretty good.
