Here's one ingenious  ::) ;D solution. Actually looks like it would work nicely.

There are many threads on this subject. THe consensus is its too easy to make your own to buy one. AS follows: First you should drill out the dimple staking that is locking the ring. A drill bit slightly larger than the dimple, and drill about 1/8 to 1/4, not very far.

Then, my last tool I made was a flat piece of strap aluminum, about 24 inches long. Drill two holes in it the space of the notches in your retainer. Put two small short bolts in each hole with nuts to hold them there. THis tool should easily turn the retainer. Here's mine about a third of the way down page 29: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=36459.420

Mine requires no welding or tools other than a drill. Not my idea, stole it from someone here.

Just know the retainer is a left hand tread.

My experience is with the 750 which are all right hand threads.

Is the 500 a left hand?

Wow that is good...to...know!  Hopefully the manuals would say something.

Finally got mine off last week. You can borrow the tool I just made if you'd like. Not sure if the CB500 rear bearing retainer has the holes spaced the same way though.

If you have a drill you can make your own for about 10 dollars with parts from Ace Hardware or Menards.

EDIT: I don't think you can buy one. I tried! I can't find it, even with the glories of the internet.
