For the description, if not for the bike...
« on: December 04, 2005, 03:55:10 PM »
You just have to check out this ebay auction.

I was scanning Ebay, as I often do, and came across this bike. It's real local to me and I am half tempted to bid on it. what do you all think?

My thoughts, in between the fits of laughter, was that it might be a interesting restoration or Cafe Project. Nice, low miles for a '74.  ;D ;D :D ;D

If you can get it at a reasonable price and are prepared to spend time and money on it,...go for it.

Good luck.

I've seen worse starting points for a project bike.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Agreed!  That's a true Rat bike.  I've always kind of wanted one, but wouldn't feel right creating it.  Rat bikes aren't created, they just happen. ;) ::)

What a shame someone did that to a bike? got to be worth a bid for parts if not to rebuild it?

someone who thinks that is a bad place to start a resotration has never been to my garage. It looks all there and despite the butchering looks like it is mostly a cosmetic resto.

The patched /riveted exhaust is the perfect touch.
Did you notice they bought a nice finned points cover after all that butchering?

LOL

Hey, I thought it looked as honest as the description. With all those after market accessories, I thought it would be well worth the dollars, and the possibility of a reasonable bike underneath. How can you not believe a used-bike salesman, it was probably owned by his old lady who took it to church on sundays, mileage would indicate that, but the rust around the speedo maybe indicates it doesn't work anyway..

overall it looks in better condition than mine... at the moment. I will post a picture after several more months of hard work and more dollars.

You know, I might have actually considered bidding on this if it wasn't for that cheesy aftermarket cigarette lighter! ::)

...and what the heck is that? A limited edition Briggs & Stratton jerry can?

Anyone got any more pics? No ebay on my army computer, the spoilsports! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
