Pretty chilly here this morning, especially the valley I go through on the highway.  Looks like it's time to put the vent-panels back in my jacket and dig out the Thinsulate riding hood.

And I totally agree with those above who point out the cooler weather is fantastic because you can wear more safty gear.  I wear my armored jacket even in the dead of summer...and that just sucks.

Had to wear the fleece vest today to work.
Don't mind it at all, it's just not outdoor swimming weather around here right now.

This 40 and 50 stuff in the evening usually starts in the last half of Sept. Two weeks early around here. We really haven't had much of a summer this year. Much too much rain and cold. And now they say we are going to have a much colder winter too.

All of this begs the question:  What do you guys wear to keep the old fingers from freezing?  Any brands you swear by?

I have a pair of armored gloves that I've owned since high school that fit like...well, a glove...the only problem is that the wind whistles right through them.  Great in the summer, sucky in the fall.  Reviews online for liners are a mixed bag...Any of you have any recommendations?

Or, what do you year-round riders wear to keep warm?

I wear my ice fishing gear and put my hands on the engine when they start getting cold.

As for glove, I double them up.  I'm looking for a better solution.

I use some Pearl Izumi Lobster (2 finger and a thumb bicycle) gloves when it gets really cold.

Heated grips are a must when it gets to freezing temps.

Ahhhh. I miss ice fishing. Can't do that in Missouri. Wyoming, though, was perfect.

I can picture myself looking like an Arctic Ocean diver sitting on the back of a motorcycle in the middle of winter.

What you cant ride when its cold? Come on...call yourself a biker  ;) ;D...oh wait I forgot your one of those cafe poseurs  ;D ;D sorry couldnt resist...no harm intended  ;)

Its only too cold to ride when there is ice on the road and even then....ice is just a hazard.

cheers
Andy

I am with Andy on this one. You ride till it snows. That's why there are layers. Put on some long johns, sweat pants, wool calf socks, and some thick jeans. Little cold never killed no one.  ::)

Honestly though I live in Minnesota and I ride untill it's impossible.

Oh by the way Andy, leave cafe's out of this.

Forcast for Seattle:

Tuesday: Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s.
Wednesday: Cloudy with a chance of rain. Highs in the 60s to lower 70s
Thursday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the 70s
Friday: Mostly clear and sunny. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s
Saturday: Mostly clear and sunny. Highs in the upper 70s to low 80s
Sunday: Partly sunny. Highs  in the mid 70s.

Sounds pretty decent to me.  ;D

Well it was HOT today in SO. CALIF. and there's fires all around me !!  I went and helped a friend pack up some important
things and the animals and get the hell out of there !! The smoke was unbelievable !!  I'm really hoping his house doesn't
burn to the ground.  :(

How're those fires now mate? My big sister lives up in the hills (La Canada?) and the fires got as close as across the road from her place, it reminded me so much of the fires here in February that killed 173 people, and like the fires here, I heard them say that the CA fires may have been deliberately lit? Anyway, I hope your mate is ok?

The sun came out for the first time in what seems like weeks today, I sneaked home early from work and took my Triumph Rocket III for a ride, what a great day! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Looks like another decent week here in the Seattle area. Living in the shadows of the Cascade Mountain range, weather can change almost at a moment’s notice it seems. However, I'm feeling pleasantly optimistic. Suppose to be more of the same thru next Sunday.
