Finally got a temp tag so I could ride it in to work and get it emission tested during lunch. Well it failed miserably and on te way home I ran out if gas.

No reserve?

Finished rebuilding the CJ360 carbs tonight. Even with having to paint the rusty tops they look pretty good.

I've said this before, but if you're serious about working on your bike invest in a set of real JIS screwdrivers.
Essential for doing carb work. The best $20 I've spent on tools. :)

Well I didn't get a chance to do anything to the bike but the mailman delivered my new gauge faces & trim rings - excellent - so if things run to plan, Friday will be a day in the shed.

I spent four hours yesterday trying to get a 3/8 inch tall sleeve/insert out of the top of the bike's neck that holds the triple tree. Chisel, drill, grind, hammer....

No luck. Today we go to the machine shop to try a lathe.

Why do people put things like this on these bikes?

Found out I'm getting a 98% complete '73 750 to fix up over the winter..nice original pipes, 13K on the clock, motor turns over, rotted used to be red tank, nice rims, but needs a seat and a few other little bits...all for the equivalent cost of about a week's rent in my apartment :) Haven't seen it yet, but it's getting dropped off at my dad's shop this week!

Oh, and I slipped the center stand on and off the 500/4 to lube the chain.

Took off the 4 into 1 exhaust, getting a new muffler for the system and sending the header off for a ceramic coating estimate. (all the shops around here are the "we gotta see it before we can price it" kind of places)

Interested to see what you're quoted if you don't mind sharing.  I would like to ditch the wrap on my 4-2-1 and have it ceramic coated.

I dropped them off today and should have a quote in a day or two. I'll post what they quote me when I hear back. This is new to me so I am just as interested in finding out if it's in MY budget! :)

Drained the float bowls for the first time. No great feat, but for a non-mechanic whose experience is limited to adjusting valves, changing air filter, engine oil/filter and adjusting the chain it's something I can add to my list.

Looks good Dave, I hope the bearings in your trolley wheel survived? I chucked Ken's K1 disc in my lathe and attacked it with a nylon 3M strip disc in my 7 inch sander/polisher while it slowly spun, and it cleaned the crap off really well. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
