Terry...Vegemite is in the house!!!
« on: December 20, 2005, 06:04:46 PM »
Thanks Terry, it showed up yesterday at my mailbox. Vegemite and Salada Biscuits/Crackers. I'm in epicure heaven! Funny, it reminds me of something, something I've had before but I can't place it. I keep tasting it to try to figure it out. Seems like I'm going through this jar kind of fast. How long did you say it should last? Is it possible to eat too much too fast? I'd hate to end up in the position you found yourself in. :o  The plumbing here is weak at best and my neighbors aren't nearly as forgiving as yours.

The taste is nothing like I'd been lead to believe by some. Different yes but quite palatable. Maybe the fact that I eat brewer's yeast almost daily has readied my constitution for Vegemite? The real shocker was when while reading the label I discovered that Vegemite is a fine product from Kraft...just like Easy Cheese. I'm sure this has some sort of cosmic importance but I can't put my finger on it. :D

And yes, the BS bag will come in very handy. I'm thinking I may need a LARGE supply of those. ;D ;D ;D

I'm glad you received it Mike, and even better still, I'm glad that you're actually eating it, and enjoying it! I'm sure it won't block you up as it contains no dairy products or fat of any kind, in fact it should help keep things "moving", ha ha! Let me know whan you need some more mate, I'm always happy to supply another "lover" with access difficulties, much like my situation here............... (hint hint!)

It is a fine Kraft product, but only because the family of the original inventor here in Oz were offered a shipping container full of US dollars to sell the recipe, as Kraft couldn't steal it or successfully copy it. There were a couple of really crap copies (Marmite/Promite etc) but most Aussies treat that rubbish with the contempt that it deserves!

Tom, I'm more than happy to send you a jar, it might be just the thing to warm up your insides after a day of wrenching in the snow, ha ha! I won't make any comment on weak gutted Spaniards, (are there any other kind? ;D) even though I see he's deferred his acceptance of my proposed "Vegemite Challenge" until after Christmas? Hmmmnnn.........

How are those 'bars going? If you check my oil cooler auction (just do a search by seller for netscrounger) you'll see that I'm gonna be financial again shortly, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Terry, how come you sent Mick a full jar while you sent me just a lousy tube smuggled from the army? I will show you everybody what a real spaniard is made of. Don't take all of us for our president, that's a shy guy with a great lack of character.

Marmite is not necessarily better, just different. It is richer and tangier imho.
Oh what the hell, Marmite is much better.

We could get him a manly man bucket of Vegimite, but I am sure it will go unused as that ultra small, super tiny, lousy tube has barely been sampled  ;D

Oh stop your whining Raul. What is it you would have done with a jar anyway? Used it for a doorstop? Proudly displayed it to your friends telling them that you intend to open it one day? The fact is you seem to have no use for even the small tube you have now. Why would anyone want to send you a jar? They can send it to someone like me who actually had the nerve to try it...and likes it. I've got to say it doesn't take a lot of nerve to try it. Do you have any...nerve that is?  ;D

And now that you're feeling some peer pressure to try it you're putting it off? Can't seem to find that little tube?  :o

As for my getting a jar...I thank Terry very much for that. He must have felt I deserved a jar after what I sent him. ;)  I'll be sending him more too...just have to regulate it a bit. I don't think the plumbing in his house can handle the amount I sent him the first time. :o :o ;D

Hey Mike, it's very easy to become a "Vegemite abuser" when you get a full can. That tiny little tube was so tiny that there was not enough for a single toast, much less after I used it to lube some parts of my CB750 as I already posted in this webpage

http://perso.wanadoo.es/camelo4/vegemite.html

After half the tube was gone, and with the addictive reputation the recipe has, I was afraid to try it and become addicted. And not being able to satisfy my craving, I could have done any crazy thing to get more, like trading with Terry parts from my loved CB750 for Vegemite doses.

The reasons I can't find the tube are so simple: first, I haven't searched for it, because I know it's in one of the 10 boxes where all the things from my spare room are while I put the wallpaper. And second, because that lousy tiny tube was so small it's hard to see it even when you have it in front of your very eyes! This Terry is so thrifty!!!
