Road Trip to FROOTLOOPS, & buying and old Ambulance.. almost..
« on: November 15, 2009, 09:14:56 AM »
At the 13th hour yesterday, I struck out for an auction in Kamloops BC... we call it frOOtlOOps around these parts.. ;)

This auction wasa from www.doddsauction.com it should be under special auction ..Blueline Equipment..

So I end up leaving 3/4 hr before it starts and it is over 2 hrs away..

My buddy wants me to bid on a lathe, and an old 1953 Dodge Powerwagon Ambulance.. least that is what it looked like..

The Powerwagon is painted  a weathered, yellow, has a huge winch on the front, the enclosed backend, has a blackout light still on it..and across the front of cab, above the windows.. in blood red dripping letters liker Horror Movie title lettering..
 ........JEEPERS CREEPERS.. ..:o

There is a pretty cool 54 Chev Truck, looks pretty good, considering, but its cab, frame, running gear, and HYDRAMATIC !

A few lathes, a Nice Mill drill, with nearly zero hrs, a nice gearhead drill, brake, tooling etc... the pics are online, if you want to look at them..

I end up missing the Voest 20 inch lathe (was underbidder), in the 6K range, am underbidder on most of the tooling..

I do end up buying a fairly nice Diacro 24 in finger brake, man is that thing heavy for its size!.. probably why they work well.

Well lot #571 finally comes around, and I end up being high bidder on the Jeepers Creepers.. :o ;D

I go to settle up and a guy that is a military vehicle collector tells me it is a XM152.. probably USAF, a bit different than an ambulance..

Now we just gotta get it out of there on Monday...pretty sure my buddy will like it when he sees it.. ;D

Okay, I can identify with that old ambulance. It is based on the same chassis as the old M37B1 trucks that my old Army Reserve unit had, when I got there. They had 16 of those trucks! :o

Paint this one O.D. (olive drab, for those who don't know) and imagine 16 of them.
