If this shop can modify the converter, we will have to re-think the gearing as well
might need to run wheelie bars but one step at a time
first the brakes..............

I have the air tank over in my shop to install the filler valve and air pressure gauge
the torque converter went on Monday out to shop to look at what its going to take to give us
a stall speed in the 4500 to 5000 RPM range (He thinks he can do it) so we will see.........

Jim

Side bar to the torque converter statement; Jim, can you give me the name of that convertor shop? Or if you talk to them any time soon, please  inquire on my behalf about increasing the stall on a VW Type 3 automatic torque converter.

Glad you guys are trying to up the stall more, it will put less stress on the brake system to acheive the proper launch rpms.

As usual, great work by Bill and Jim to get Samauto in the winners circle. Thanks for all you guys have done to make the SOHC community an active part of Samauto's  transition from a ho hum street bike to a consistent bracket bike. Props to Mike and Jon as well and to a big tip of the hat to Sam for even coming up with the concept.

TANK?  You got a swing arm = weld in a bung tapped for fill valve and gauge and fill to 125lbs.  [ I Got three swing arms in the shop with air connections ] No more weight added.

This is a small aluminum tank that was originally used for an air shifter
it might be a quart in volume..............

Might be time for a longer swingarm guys. And find a way to put some shocks on the bike too - might want to eventually consider a mono shock set up due to the frame configuration.

It will never wheelie off of the starting line. A well sorted Hondamatic with the right cam, gearing, and ignition will power wheelie further down the track. Adding a wheelie bar will probably end competition in Street ET brackets. A longer swingarm will reduce the strength of the wheelie, but the bike will let you know when the peak torque occurs. I don't see this becoming a problem for Sam's bike in it's current configuration.
Neal Chance Transmissions does oddball torque converters. It can be googled.

MR. WEEKS: So this bike CB750A  will be wheeling at the 1/8 mile and hitting that beam [ 6 " off the ground ]  with the rear wheel ????  I got a bike I will bring to the CUP RACE that can do that at the 330', 660', 1000' and the 1320' beam and it's a AUTO-MATIC but not a HONDA.  My 42 year old daughter rode it last Wednesday at a track rental and I asked her how is it to ride a " unicycle"  thank GOD she never wanted to be a motorcycle drag racer as her middle name would have been " LIFE FLIGHT ".

Up date
The converter is being modified and should, according
To the shop should give us a stall speed of 3800 to 4300
This will also give us a base line to test from and if we need
To make changes he will have the numbers
The air tank for the line lock is finished as the
Air gauge and filler cap have need installed
Still need to get the bike over to install the line lock
As time allows

The converter I hope will be in Monday or Tuesday
would like to get that on the bike and just see where we are
If its good (3800 to 4000)
then go to getting the line lock mounted
then off to commerce for the next step

I guess
