Bill, do yourself a BIG favor and see if heavy duty motor and trans mounts are still available for it. i remember the stock mounts being a bit problematic when these cars are thrashed hard.

I'll do that Jeff. He DID throw in a few EXTRA parts AND Mounts were part of that. 8)

I had one of those way back in the day, Mine had the high-perf shelby motor too.  It was a fun car, but in the end it ws a typical chrysler product..  These days I'll stick to my impreza.

for a while direct connection (ok, mopar performance) sold a dohc kit for these and 300 hp was sited.

remember the spirit r/t? the prototype reached 300 hp but then they weren't able to harness it to fwd.

i love these too bucky! i had an '85 glh... not intercooled, and loved that crude lil' beast. i miss it.

oooh, careful with the 'typical chrysler' stuff gsx, you're in the mopar den.  ;D

Hey Bill, THIS one Still Blows off some of the newer Mustangs! Said to be putting out about 245hp and if I can find a place with a dyno AND someone who knows Turbo cars, it can be dialed in to give 300hp. 8) I guarantee you that, when you stick your foot in it, KIT GOES! The seller said that it is equalivalent to the Shelby GLHS Charger.
AND, it still has an A/C that will freeze you out, along with a nice Kenwood Stereo that puts out great sounds of it's own! ;)

i'd actually love to build another turbo air cooled bug. i still have most of the turbo system off of the 65 bug i had years ago. all i'd need to do would be to rebuild the turbo and weld up a new exhaust pipe for it.

Hey now, don't get me wrong, I loved my car too,  it's just so much nicer to have an awd car that runs just as good as the charger.

when mopar was toying with that 300 hp dohc they had a prototype awd and shelby got his hands on that too. mopar (remember they owned most of lambo) had another daytona with awd and... a lambo v8, and called it the decepione.

that's why chrysler kicked butt. them boys weren't right in the head.  ;D

Didn't remember the name but did remember the deal though. 8)

Also had part of Maserati and built some Lebaron TCs (I think that's what they were called. There were a couple of them for sale in Arkansas on Craig's list for a bit (2dr convertibles that also came with porthole hardtops. Don't remember about the performance of those though. I CAN promise you one thing though, this Lil' Shelby that I picked up on, will Kick Butt's (with the performance like I've NEVER seen from an engine that looks like a regular little 2.2! :o 8) ;) Know this, my little 84' Turismo 2.2 with the 2 barrel carbed 2.2 (110hp) and 5sp was a pretty good little runner AND this one will easily run off and HIDE from that one! :o
