My mother was cleaning out some storage areas at her house and found this.  I have a vague memory of this but why I never put it together I can't recall.  It is dated 1968 so I am thinking I got it sometime between 1968-1970. Many of the parts have been removed from the trees but they are all there with the exception of the deployed parachute.  When I go to my parent's for Christmas I will have to search for it. Notice the tarantula tie clip that came with it. ;D  Also found was a 1957 Ford Ranchero kit that is the old 1950's style with with the separate body panels, suspension, and exhaust system.  This kit has many more pieces and is more detailed than the more modern kits that came later.  No box with this one.

My wife has a 1/16 scale monogram big drag new in the box. I owned a dragster that looks like the one on the box next to the tarantula. It was outdated and barely legal but it was a blast to drive!

I built quite a few models, back in the day AND still have some stuffed away somewhere myself. Only Monogram model I remember doing was "The Green Hornet".

Cool pix! I had that model!
It's the first model I remember having.
My Uncle got it for me for my birthday when I was 6-7 years old in '69 or '70.
He "helped" me build it, which really means he built it for me while I watched.
I'm sure that kit is worth a few bucks now even with the missing parts.

I built quite a few in the late 60's to the early 70's and when I turned 18 and moved away they stayed home and were pretty much destroyed by my 3 younger brothers. :-\  My older brother was into horror/monster films and had all the models like Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc.  Would love to have those now, anyone remember them?  Some glowed in the dark I recall.

I remember that one.  There was a lot of wild custom models from that era copied or inspired by George Barris.
