Where to get shiny new bolts
« on: December 28, 2009, 03:55:02 AM »
Does anyone know where I can get a shiny new bolt kit for my '71 CB750 cafe project?  I have found a few ENGINE bolt kits, but I am looking for CHASSIS, etc bolt kits.  My '71 has been sitting since '73, so almost EVERY bolt needs replaced.  Thoughts?
It took 10 years but she's finally done!

You can have all the original fasteners re-coated with clear zinc. It's an inexpensive way to finish off a build.

You can also buy the frame set from Yamiya although a little spendy.  Here's a link.

I can help you out.  I just documented almost all existing bolts (the ones I could reach, anyway) on my '75.  I'm doing a cafe built, too, and I replaced almost everything with new stainless hardware -- looks great.  I used allen head bolts, mostly, but I can help you out with regular hex, too.  If you send me an email with the bolts you're looking to replace, I can help you put something together.

I don't know of any kits.  If you are willing to do your own leg work and determine what you need, I like two suppliers for fasteners:

And if you want bomb-proof shtuf:

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/ha/index.html

You can get high quality US made ANSI and ASE grade fasteners from these companies.
