Addicted or Nuts???
« on: January 06, 2010, 02:59:52 PM »
We had a 23 degree heat wave here in WI today and just I had to get the bike out. I say I am addicted...the wife says I am nuts. Either way, it was a great ride!!!  ;D

I wish we had roads that clean in the winter but then getting into the 20s in winter is almost as rare as pigs flying!
And if it did actually get that warm, we have so much sand and other crud on the roads that cornering is pretty dicey.

I am not alone.   ;D ;D ;D
I went for a ride on Monday.  We had a good foot and a half of snow on Saturday.  Glad to know I'm not the only nut addict.

Yah, we are supposed to get another 3-5 tonight so I figured I better get out before the roads get to salty and icy. I just love watching the double takes from people when they see a bike coming.

;D Yah...probably both. The only real change besides the insulated clothes was using my full face snowmobile helmet. I did not use any heated gear, but I did not stay out for 3 hours either. Had there been snow or ice on the roads I would not chance it. This ride was good for both the bike and rider... ;)

Only thing I took out yesterday, was the GTX AND I like to NEVER got it to start up and STAY running. It DID NOT WANT TO GO! So, that being said, there was NO WAY I was going to get a bike out and go ANYWHERE on it! ;)

Johnie (and you other youner guys),
I don't do the cold weather riding bikes anymore.  But when it gets cold I go nuts over my addiction with working on them.  I see them sitting there and all I can do is think about taking them apart hoping I can find something to fix.  I got my sandcast apart right now.  Everything but the motor.  Its coming apart this weekend.  Sick.

Sunday 10th Jan - 10.30am - 14F (with wind chill = 0F).

Getting ready to leave..

warming up..

Exit pathway....

I have to say....this mornings temps exceeded my gloves (Scott snowmobile gloves) ;-). My fingers started getting pretty cold rather fast so I was lucky it was only 4 miles to work. On the plus side I did see a scooter at the Jamicaway roundabout! I wasnt the only one out for a ride.

Hopefully it will be warmer before its time to go home...

have a good day!

If it's cold out I stick with mittens, and if it's really cold out I throw a handwarmer packet in there with my fingers. I was out for about 40 minutes in that eight below weather and I didn't have a problem with my fingers (but my thumbs were starting to get a bit cold).
