i have my conceal carry pistol, the Taurus PT145 im stainless with the polymer frame, i have a Ruger GP100 .357 with a 4 1/2" barrel and the pre-war Walther PPK .32 auto. the Walther was taken off of a German officer near the end of WWII, it was my dads, when he passed away in 2003 it became mine. i dont shoot it much and i keep the holster and belt in a nice soft, moisture and dust proof case. i am looking to get a new deer rifle this coming yesr so i can start hunting again, i have my sights set (pun intended

) on getting a Ruger M77 MK1 in 30.06. i want the MK1 because thats the only M77 to have iron sights, which i prefer in 95% of my hunting situations.
i've been meaning to ask, where did the word "gat" come from?
Edit: the name gat came from shortening the name "GATling gun, which eventualy led to ALl types of firearms including rifles, pistols, machine guns or shotguns. the first weapon to really get to be known as GAT is the Thompson Submachine Gun
