Pics of my 75 750f
« on: January 05, 2006, 04:43:55 PM »
I just thought I would post up pics of my 75 750f that I recently purchased.  I haven't done anything to it at all.  I don't really plan to as of now.   I have the stock exhaust too.  Its in decent shape but has a small hole rusted in the bottom of it after the four pipes mate together.  Tell me what you think.

so, that's an "F"...was 75 the first year for the F?  does that automatically mean, "SuperSport"?

it says super sport on the tank if that counts for anything!   I guess officially its a 1975 CB750F Super Sport.

i don't see where it says "SS"...the other side? usually it's printed just below "Honda"?

anyway, i don't doubt you, but i was wondering, because this is the tank i have that's all messed up -1 year...

does the rear end of the tank "cowl" over the frame mount? does it extend out further than the bracket? that's the way the '76 works and it still fits the front mount and rear mount of my '71 - i'm in the market for another SS tank and if i can expand my search a little it would help me out.

i think the measurement from the back of the front mount to the end of the rear mount is 19" or 19.5" or so... if the '75 is the sam that means it'll fit my bike as well...

anyway, i'm sorry to hijack your thread this way - you have a gorgeous bike there...how do those pipes sound?

Nice bike mate, keep it original, I've seen some really poxy looking CB750F/F1 based "cafe" bikes, but not too many "originals", like yours!

CBJ, I'm not sure what your question is, but I've got K and F stuff here, I can try an F tank on my K frame for you, if that's what you want?

All the CB750F (and F1/F2/F3) tanks were the same as far as mounting points go, only difference (apart from badges, decals and color schemes) was the spiggot size for the petcocks, for some reason they went from a larger spiggot on the F/F1 to a smaller one on the F2/F3. I nearly fell over when I realised an XR80 petcock screws on to an F2 tank! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

i'll post a pic of the effect i'm describing - i posed it as a question to find out if i can get away with putting a 75 SS tank on my K1...if what you say is true about the F mounting points then it should be fine - i'm working with a bunk '76 right now.

Any idea on sizes of those spigots? I have a tank which may be incorrectly marked "1977 750F" which the petcock from a 78 K8 will not fit. the spigot is about 20mm across, and I'm wondering if this might be an F/F1.

Dan

I did ride the beast today.......in the yard and driveway. At least I have found out that the tranny shifts into at least 2nd gear.  ;D

If the K7/K8 petcock doesn't fit, it's an F2 tank, so the markings are correct. The F2/F3 had a smaller spiggot, I only just realised after borrowing a petcock firstly from Clyde, and then being given one (thanks mate!) by Sean Condon, that an old XR80 petcock I've had for years fits straight onto my F2 tank! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks, Terry -- Oddly enough, the F tank spigot is too large to accommodate the k7/8 petcock. Was the F/F1 spigot gigantic or do I maybe have an earlier tank? Dan

Hmmnnnn, that's interesting. Okay, the F/F1 (1975/76) had a bigger dia spiggot than the F2/F3. I've got one of each tank hanging in my garage, so I'll measure them once it cools down a tad. (110 deg F outside today, so probably around 125 in my steel garage) Cheers, Terry. ;D

Very nice...Indeed!!! I would keep it as original as possible, to clean a ride to tamper with.
