Wow that fabric looks good, and for seven bucks. Gonna visit Hobby Lobby tomorrow.

I'm still contemplating how I'm gonna build a pan, whether I hack up one I have or fabricate one. I watched the video for those strips, they look pretty handy. How long it take to get em?

I think the spikes will work great. I recovered a stock seat that had them and it was very simple. Just be sure to mount the strips as secure as possible. Are you planning on using rivets?

So what exactly were you gonna paint bronze, the frame?

no the fenders and side cover are painted 'anodized bronze'. that's what rustoleum calls it... pictures probably dont show that good. it's kind of a dull semi-gloss gray/bronze...

Ah I wondered, the pictures look more gray. Pictures can wash out colors though.

okay, came home and started working on the seat... here's what i got so far..

this part took longer than expected, but i had to cut and drill and rivet the pieces to fit my hacked up seat pan

now i just gotta decide if i want to keep the original shaved down foam or go all new... all new would be nice but then i have to spend more time shaping it... im thinking about cutting the middle out of the old foam and sliding in a chunk a fresh where my butt is gonna be... what do you think?

also meant to note, that kit came with 4 strips and i almost used 2... i should have enough to recover my friends goldwing seat (different goldwing than the bobber i know you're all flowing in the other bikes forum)

also, MC rebuild kit came in today... should get that done this weekend..

Looks way more bronze in the video. Sounds good. Were you gonna paint the tank, or just clear coated?

i sprayed it with kyrlon brand "flat clearcoat" after knocking off the surface rust with a wire wheel. i wasnt sure how it would look but i like the dull look it came out with... so yeah that's how im keeping it... tossing around the idea of some pin stripping or something on either te thank or the side covers....

also i guess i will name my bike, since its the cool thing...
how about "dirty rat bastard"? has that been taken?

okay... went ahead and took a stab at covering the seat... its not perfect but it will ride for now... will probably end up doing something more narrow...

Looks good, I know what you mean about the narrow thing. Your pretty much stuck with it being that wide unless you don't use stock mounting locations. I think Dirty Rat Bastard is free. Go for it.

yeah the only thing you could do is maybe cut it narrow and just leave it wide at the hinge and lock... or just cut an all new pan and cover it. then bolt the hinge on the side, sticking out... oh well. thats for another day. like i said, she'll ride like this. and its pretty comfy.

got her when i was 17... drove it forever and now she mostly sits. should be heading down to my dads for paint... ive just gotta help him finish up a tbird first. it;s an '83 V6 car, put in a '75 302 with '69 351W heads (bigger valves), cam is  .512 i think (its been awhile). 3.73 traction lock. drivetrain has about 3k on it... would love to paint it and swap out to C4 for a 5 speed and start driving her again...
so it was a bit of long story... but thats pretty much it
