I saw this not long after it first came out.  It was good.  I like stories where people just get caught up in a situation.  Kind of like it could happen to anybody-type of thing.

I got the book that the movie was based on, but haven't read it yet.

as usual the book will be 'better' than the film.  ::)  ;D

i agree with your comment that this was something you feel could happen to anyone. i remember hoping i would never stumble upon what those guys did.

Not always.  Jaws was a better movie than book.  The Shining was a better movie than book.  The movie Contact I may have liked a tiny bit better than the book too.  Of course, these are just my opinions.

The Silence of the Lambs was about the same as the movie, but you might have thought the book would be much better.  In the book, H. Lecter had 6 fingers on one hand BTW.  And the famous line from that movie (you know the one...), there was just one word different in the book than the movie version.  And that one word made that line a lot more clever in the book version.  I was very surprised they didn't catch it and keep it for the movie.  It would have made that line a lot better IMO.

But yeah... usually when you read the book and it turns out not to be better than the movie, you feel really cheated....

a friend said both the book and movie versions of "the green mile" were about equal. at least the film version (he said) was true to the book. that's gotta be hard to pull off!

I was at the rental place this Saturday.  I wasn't even thinking about this movie but I ran across it while flipping through the DVDs.  So I rented it again.  It's just as good now as I remember it was ten years ago.

I'm kind of surprised no one ventured a guess about the line I was talking about.   :)
