That's an admirable desire.  Especially about 40 years after you started riding and the Doc tells you that the hearing loss that you have was probably caused by continuous exposure to loud noses.  Then he asks what you do that could have exposed you to such noise.  Hard not to feel foolish when you have to admit you have rode for years with open pipes on your scoots.   Being half deaf really sucks big time.  I will never run open pipes again.  While I am on the soap box, another major cause of hearing loss is the continuous wind popping in your ears if you ride a lot without a helmet.  Another good reason to always ware the skull bucket.

I am very interested in seeing how your exhaust holds up to clear cloat.  I think it looks great raw, btw my raw Carpy exhaust shipped yesterday!

Cant wait to hear a sound clip of your bike.  Did you go up on your jets?  Carpy said upsize by two if your not running baffles.

Again, Looks great in the raw state!

FYI for all who feel the urge to automatically jump jet sizes with a new exhaust, start it first and see what happens. I run a hacked off 4 into 1 stock, no baffles with pods at a mile high, haven't changed any jets and I'm happy, maybe this fall when I up it to 836.

Freaky, my thought would be that we have the luxury to be richer then others due to being milehigh.  I am all about trying out the bike on settings as they were prior to mods, then seeing how it runs and how the plugs look and make changes if needed.

It will be interesting to see how similar bikes with same exhausts compare at milehigh and lower elevations related to jet size and needs..

I'm planning a trip to eastern Nebraska for about two weeks in July, with lots of riding, might have to establish a baseline before that trip.

i got mine in awhile ago, but i just can't get the stones rolling on my build...  i think i had one of the first batches, either way, nice pipe for sure!!!  i might try to smooth some of the welds down and then go get it high temp ceramic coated silver or a slightly polished look

I will start off with what I have, then move up if necessary.I am already 1 jet size up.I will probably put baffles in.By the way I am deaf in my right ear anyway,(jumped by scumbags with baseball bats.)As I said I got no baffles with the pipes.I love the open look, but we will see,or hear for that matter.Have to make new plug wires ,so I have to be patient.

carpy's vids online are of the pipes on a stock bore 750 with the baffle in, and it sounds MEAN!!  i can't wait to get mine in!  i'll run baffle first, because i want the backpressure, but i'm sure i'll toy around without it just for the sounds!!  take a video if/when you can!

I'm goin deaf, too. but I think it was more from punk shows standing next to the amp for the best view. last show I went to was a d-beat noise band from Japan that had constant feedback, super loud and high pitched. I was like wow that hurts my ears and I'm practically deaf. the kids looked at me like I was a pussy. What happened to the good ol'days of Blackflag, GBH & the Misfits? Back when noise was good. I saw Kyuss way back in the 90s in a smaller place in Detroit & it was rediculously loud. Ohh Happytimes! And to go back to the beginning, no Im not jelouse... (you basterd!)

Jeez, I must be older than I thought - I am unfamiliar with "noise bands."  Of course, my punk tastes ran to the vein of Social D...my everyday listening ran to speed and thrash.

BTW, I'm a few years younger than you, so this just proves that age is a state of mind.

But, to the subject at hand, this thread made me head back over to Carpy's site.  It really, really makes me want a 750.

I have tried my Carpy pipes with and without baffle. 120dB with baffle out and 90dB with it in. I have never had a Harley rider look at me like my bike was annoyingly loud before, until now. People hate that pipe without the baffle. My neighbors flip me off, and the women and children hold their ears. Kinda cool!

BTW Dig around in that box real good to look for the baffle. It is a little tiny thing, and he just threw mine in the box. I had to fish out all the packing peanuts to find it.

I'm on my second baffle, too! The first got ejected somewhere on the highway. I like to think it shot out like a grenade, but it probably just wiggled out. I have modified the new baffle to allow the bolt to go all the way through it. Those 2 or 3 threads just don't hold it in very well, even with Loctite.

i agree,i am 49 almost 50 and i have a slight continuous ringing in my ears.im sure it wasnt loud music although ive listened to my share over the ears.i firmly believe it is wind noise because i wear a bowl type helmet and my ears have been exposed to the wind all these ears.i now wear earplugs.
