Gee.  I'm a geek.  I noticed the conservation of angular momentum when both he and the bike were rolling.   :-[

On another note, as strange as it may sound, he is pretty skillful when wrecking.  That might be a more important trait than skill in riding if you think about it.  He rolled pretty well, dissipating his energy through motion as opposed to bones breaking, and walked away pretty much unhurt.

Those are great pictures.

Ryder60 you sure are right, and for a long time some of those still images remain with you.  ;D You probably raced Westwood?

I came off the top in that off camber right hander leading onto the straight at Westwood. One line through that one.....and I wasn't on it.

High siding is not fun, period.

Wow - great pictures.  I'm in full agreement - high-siding - no fun.  Amazing that the guy came out pretty much okay.  That was a great job of "energy release" or "energy dissipation".

High siding just seems to be such a cruel twist of fate when you lose the tail.  The tail was lost... what is it doing "grabbing" and throwing me over the top?  ;)

Besides the hard landing, the bike is almost always behind the rider after the crash and usually smacks him again for good measure.  :P

looks like a backed off powerslide,,its sliding nice then if the throttle is closed the rear bites hard and over you go,,too fast to react,,not like dirt sliding where you can back off,,different steering geometry aswell.

Great photos, he talks about too much throttle for his lean angle.  sounds like he needs one of theses.

I looked at that and figured that he was going for a broken bone or two, he must have tucked his hand up to get the roll? Having hi-sided once or twice I too am interested in the proper arc your body describes before you walk away as opposed to laying there like road kill.

So that can happen from over-acceleration like he said, I thought it was from over-braking.
But anything that causes the rear to lose contact and regain it will do that- good to remember.  :)

So if you are locking up your back and you are going down kids, keep it locked or else highside happens.

ditto, and just chopping the throttle to fast whilst leaned in will break the rear loose, and
if your back on the throttle two fast, oh well

I didn't need to look, I remember. Tank slapper too, I put my feet on the seat and pushed it away from me while sliding. I had some hi dollar sunglasses and an old bubble shield helmet, I put my hands over the gap so the glasses didn't fall out. Saved the glasses, left most of my knuckles there on the ramp though. I had called in sick to work, they thought I called in wrecked, worked out OK.

Sorry, never saw it that way, plus no matter what anyone says I don't think it's possible to relax or plan your fall while it's happening. It happens in a heartbeat.

Ahhh Memories!

I had the 750 for about 3 days, and was late to work as a cook at the 2400 Diner in Fredericksburg. I came across Chatham bridge and made that right, and saw no cops running radar like normal.
So, I wick it up, and all of a sudden, that brick wall at the end of the street got REAL big, REAL quick! So, in classic NOOB fashion, I grab a footfull of rear and no front and start to kick out right. I panic and let go of the rear and just had enough time to see I was doing 60 before being launched! I hit the ground, catching the curb across the chest,and bounce up into the wall, I think, I'm a little fuzzy on that.
I had the two biggest, bloodiest lips you ever saw, and was just hurting all over. Anyway, the cop was about to question me about my license(no M class yet!) when he noticed my bike and asked what year it was(78).He had a 75 and we talked bikes for about 15 minutes before he drove off. Whew!

I did two things the very next day, in this order.

1. Bought an AGV Full face.
2. Got my M class on my license.

Had a little old lady pull out in front of me and then STOPPED when she saw me coming behind her. This was on an '08 dresser.
Did everything I could to avoid her. Had both tires locked up in a broad side.
Front tire JUST missed her bumper and I was ejected when the tires grabbed.
Flew about 40ft, touched down for half a roll and was right back on my feet running down the road still carrying speed from the get off!
Fortunately, the oncoming driver saved my life by seeing what was going on and pulled off to the side.
I would have been through her windshield for sure....
Love those dressers, they go like stink but stop like a dump truck!
X= an unknown quantity
Spurt= a drip under pressure!
