I've got a GL1000 19" wheel and hub, but I wanted to go with a smaller front wheel (wanted to run 18s on both ends; don't really like the look of the GL1000 rim either). I also bought a lot of CB750F parts which included a 2.5x18" rear wheel. I was wondering if it was possible to lace the GL1000 front hub to the rear rim of a 750F.
A cursory search of tech articles says I probably can't ... The GL1000 front is a 19" wheel, and the CB750F is an 18" ... Or am I jumping the gun a bit?

True Buchanans can get you the spokes, they seem to have extensive databases and calculators.
One issue to address is the angle of the hole drilled thru the dimpl on the CB750F rim. I think the spool hub on the F was slightly larger diameter than the GL1000 front spool. That would mean that the spokes for the smaller spool would be longer, and at a less steep angle going into the rim. Better less steep than more steep.
Once you get it laced up and start truing you would see the spokes develop a bend near the nipple end as it enters the rim, if the angle of the hole was off.
If you are using a heavier gauge spoke and nipple, like we usually get from Buchanans, you would need to enlarge the holes in the rim and you could tweak the angle at that time. I've seen laced wheels with very obvious bending to the spokes. I have drilled an alloy rim to fit a CB750 Drum by eye and did a pretty good job at it. But a few spokes had minimal bending. I ran that wheel for a long time, the spokes are so much stronger than stock a very slight bend doesn't hurt. But I would never drill my own again.
Buchanans must have a calculatoir and drill jig to do theirs.
