Must Be A Bad Time For Allergies AND Asthma.....
« on: April 26, 2010, 08:15:31 PM »

Last few days, my Asthma has been kicking up again. Hard to do ANYTHING if you are wheezing and struggling just to get a breath. Brenda had Asthma pretty bad too and I used to get some pretty sarcastic looks from her, when I'd accuse HER of giving it to ME! ;D

    Anybody else got Asthma problems?

my allergies seem to get worse every year. i live on benadryl this time of year. of course my cat allergies dont help much either but i'd rather die than not have my kids.

Yeah, it's something else to deal with. My Asthma takes spells and usually will be back under control in just a bit. Being contrary now though. Speaking of Cats, my 2 are sitting around like vultures because their bowl is empty and I haven't taken care of it yet, as I'm just trying to breathe. They are giving ME looks as if to say, breathe later, fill the bowl NOW! ::)

if i dont keep the bowls full enough that the bottoms dont show both Gus and Macavity go banannas. must be because they were strays and had to fight for their food, so i make sure they have plenty before i go to bed or i get NO peace.

I understand the feeling! Molly will just stand there, meow and give me a look like, "Hello! The Bowl is EMPTY!" While Joy will get up on the Computer Desk and talk to me and IF I don't pay attention to her, she will reach out with her paw and tap on my arm or chest (which ever is handiest) and keep it up until I take care of things. Cocoa (the dog) will let them take care of it, as she has faith that they will get the job done! Then SHE will just go over there and help herself, no matter who happens to BE THERE! :D

Spring time is your answer. Things start growing. Affects both. Keeps me busy behind the counter.

I get my butt kicked for a couple weeks too. I use the generic claritin. I tried benedryl but it just put me to sleep, not surprising since its main ingredient is the same as generic sleepaids!

I seem to be having a better time this year though. Only about a week.

Seems to be getting me more as time goes on. Don't know whether it is because I am getting older, things are OUT THERE more or some of BOTH! ::) Either way, it IS affecting ME more! :-\ Kinda hard to get much done, if ya can't breathe properly. ::)

I was listening to a podcast a few weeks ago and there was a story about Jasper Lawrence.  He intentionally infected himself with hookworms to end his allergy suffering and it worked.  It was a very interesting story and he has his own business selling hookworms.  Here are a couple links.

Around here it's been much drier than usual and the various pollens have been in the air for longer so every thing plugs and I use Spiriva once a day and Ventolin when needed which lately is a lot for me, I'll be working along and all of a sudden I run out of steam and I have to nap more just to keep up and yeah Bill it's damm hard to do what is needed when all you feel like doing is crashing for an hour, as an aside, age does play a part so you're constantly wondering whether you are failing or you forgot your puffer ( I constantly check to see if my palms are gray ( no oxygen)). My advice is if you've got major projects that are physically demanding do them as soon as you are feeling better because as the years drag on, your ass drags more and they are harder, harder to do.

Bill, YOU said a mouthful there! For several years now, I've noticed that I get tired quicker and need more rest. It's pretty aggravating as well. I KNOW I'm not in as good of a shape as I COULD be, but TIME seems to be flying by NOW and to do the things to be in good shape, takes so much time, it becomes really hard to get anything done, along with that. Then, with Brenda being Gone, I don't have as much drive to DO things. Not to mention that my Asthma seems to be kicking my butt more often, on top of everything else. Between the age thing and the asthma, I DO need to try to jump on things as I can feel like it, like YOU said. After all, we have no clue just when OUR number will be up! I see other older guys who SEEM to be doing better than I am, in the "Energy Department" and wonder what they do (or have done) to be able to do like they do. ???
