Turn signal housing warning
« on: April 29, 2010, 07:51:29 AM »
I bought some OEM turn signal housings because I had some that were pretty bad and it was cheaper than rechroming them.  I even had new screws.  I put the lenses on and then remembered I was going to put new bulbs in so I pulled them apart.  The screws seemed to go in a just a little tight but I didn't think much of it until I went to remove them.  Two of the screws broke off in two different housings, one near the head and the other flush with the hole.  The one that broke off near the head I was able to get out with a vice grip after I took the lens off (it was real tight) but I still need to figure out a way to remove the other one.  I figure there might be excess plating in the hole.  I'm going to run a 3mm tap in the holes before I try to put them back together.  If this happened on two of four of mine there must be others out there too.
