TinTop,

I am contemplating further modifications to the frame on my 550 - a bad habit I have when it snows too much, leaving me with far too much spare time - and I'd like to ask you for a measurement off your bike.  Specifically, in this picture:

Looking that the forward vertical frame tube, the one that accepts the rear motor mount bolts, can you tell me the distance from some fixed point, say the top of the upper motor mount bolt, to where it would intersect with the bottom and top of your air filter mount?  In other words, I'm thinking about welding another tube onto that tube somewhere in that area, and I don't want it right in front of the filter system, once it finds it way to the bike.  Actually I'd like to locate my tube to intersect that down-tube somewhere very close to, possibly just above, your airfilter system.

Hey Kong, going to the shop tomorrow and will gets some measurements for you.  I assume from your description you are planning on adding some frame stiffeners.

So my planning for my trip to the Grand National Roadster Show is progressing.  Tomorrow and Sunday are detail, clean and polish.  As my sync tool has not returned, I am taking the bike to Peter Folk @ 109 Cycle to get it sync'd.  Once that is done, only the tank & seat will need to be re-installed, and it's finished.

NedNut has been working on a Show Card for the bike.  Think this is fantastic! ;D ;D

Now I just have to get the 'Judges Book' finished, and pack. ::)

Yep, I'm wantin' to stiffen up the tail end a bit and add some sort of splatter shield for the air cleaners too - I think I can accomplish both at once if I give it a little thought.  As a guy who had the fortune (you decide if it was good or bad) to ride a good number of original H-1's I early on developed great respect for frames that do not flex.  Of course that's more a problem of the neck than the tail, but a man does what he can.

In this part of the country, where the roads are some of the best to be found bike-wise, sometimes down in the hollows, particularly in the spring, the roads get wet with dew and the drip off from overhanging trees and never do dry up even on clear days.  So the rear wheels tend to toss up a good bit of nasty.  I'd just as soon protect the works from it.

Sounds like fun. Good Luck.

Bummer, I didn't realize it was so soon; wouldn't be able to pull it together by then.  I'm trying to finish a CB350F project.  = /

Thanks to everyone for all the support, it is very much appreciated.

I leave for the show tomorrow AM; packed, bike is loaded in the trailer, GPS is programed.  And yes I do have my camera, and will post photos (the computer gods willing ;)).

One last shot, just before it was loaded.

I see you went back to the blue ignition cover.  Since seeing the finished bodywork I've been wondering how it would look on there.  It looks great, and the red anodized bits tie in well with the paint and the red brake lines.

Great work, man.  Have fun at the show.

Thanks Syscrush.  2/3rds of the way there (North Platte NE tonight).  Tomorrow it's the Rookies, and into UT.

Going to be adding a blue back plate that Frankenstuff made when I get there.  Also a petcock so I can finally put gas in the tank.  All tuned up, and sounds fantastic, but very loud. ;D ;D
