Nope - it has to be produced in Italia to be called Grappa. It's normally an after dinner drink, but good anytime!

I remember when I was 18 in Italy we were out to dinner with a bunch of cousins and my dad was drinking grappa, since I was Mr. Tough guy and had been drinking for a few years I said "Hey let me drink some of that" my dad said, "Dont shoot the whole thing" and he called me like a clown or something in Italian. Of course I had something to prove to my cousins  ::) I of course shot the whole thing. BIG MISTAKE I sucked down water so fast because my innards were on fire!

Moral of the story, I dont like grappa!

Had some of this with my father-in-law, he brought it back from Italy when he worked there. I have to say all the kinds he brought back tasted like... jet fuel, or boiled scorpions. Not my 'cup of tea' but I guess that leaves more for you.

Get mine from ex-italian zone of Slovenia. The missus overdid it a few years back and, I swear, her eyesight went 'hazy' for about 3 days.
So take that as a warning; not more than a thimblefull at a time.
