As some may know I have a full Rickman Centura fairing with mounting cage.The one in my avatar,Painted to match my sunrise orange.Thing is,I want a 3/4 or 1/2 fairing.I doubt I will get what I put into it,SO,I am thinking of cutting it.Would this be sacrilege?I love it but its huge.Wonder if airtech could use it as a mold.I am also not sure if I want to part with it as it is a Rickman(crazy to think about cutting it)Any thoughts??So far I have about $600 into it(paint was pricy)

Yes, you're crazy.

You may or may not get what you have into it, but without reaching out to the membership here, or to Airtech you'll never know. If Airtech doesn't have that piece in their catalog they'd be fools to let it pass them by without snatching it up for your asking price and giving you one of their 3/4 or 1/2 fairings for your thoughtful consideration.

Or maybe someone here will have an interesting trade to tempt you with..............?

You're not crazy, but you are seeking to change your bike to suit your style. I'll stand behind your decision either way, whose bike is it anyway?

Yeah i wouldnt cut up the fairing. Even if you cant sell it for what you want the history of it would be bad to cut up. There are smaller fairing you could custom make. Pm sent to.

It is probably worth more than $600.00 in the present uncut condition. Airtech already has a Rickman replica in full 1/2 and 1/4.

I would strongly suggest that you don't cut that fairing! Rickman CB750 stuff is incredibly unobtainable and hard to get a hold of. Go find a repop 3/4 or 1/2 fairing shouldnt be that bad to find one. Maybe airtech, glass from the past, or moto tumbi. But I'll make you a deal if you cut that fairing then I'll cut my '59 Norton wideline featherbed frame.

Wow!Y'all are right.I think I was drunk when I wrote that.Maybe I will just keep it with my complete sunrise orange flake body and put it away.But I commute and do miss a fairing.

Sure airtech has lots to choose from,but they dont have mine.I will offer to send mine to them if they want it for a mold.Mine isnt exactly a CR or CB fairing.Guy I bought it from said it came off an early 80's CB900.Also I have no funds to buy another one.No matter how well a windjammer works,I just cant go there.

I put it back on for the sh*tty weather.With the 4 pipes it kinda looks awesome.Know all I need to do is paint the tank and seat.

Kind of off the wall .........but what about doing some research...and make your own copy of the full but only make it 1/2 or 3/4

I have never done anything like this before but have thought about it...........I build cedar strip canoes out of East system epoxy and 4 ounce glass cloth,the cedar is basically the form/mold and you put the cloth on top then layers of epoxy.....you could use a thicker cloth or several layers to get the strength...........the only thing being how to keep the paint from being ruined,I do not know if a release agent ,world harm the paint......I have even thought about wrapping the item in plastic vapor barrier........I think that to do a 17 ft cedar strip canoe it costs me about $250 in material.........

can't remember what his name was ,but one of the members extended a fairing on his 550....

great Idea.but if I was to do that,I would make my own design so it would be one of a kind.Hmmm.I made the cafe seat my self out of glass and aluminum,it would take a while but it would be worth it.

Yea, from reading the info it almost seems that you could mold it around your
Rickman and make a replica, or just the 1/2 that you want. Good luck with whatever you choose, Larry
